DAY 1 - New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) – Gangtok (130 km / 4 Hours Drive Approximately)
On arrival at the Bagdogra airport, bus or railway station, a representative from our team will welcome your presence. Once you step on the land of lush and verdant landscapes, embark on a 4-hour drive to reach Gangtok. It has emerged as a dynamic centre for culture, art and cuisine. Upon reaching the hotel, check in and relax. The rest of the day will be at your will to explore. We recommend you to take a stroll on the MG Marg in the evening. Explore the local cuisines and shop for local art and artefacts in the buzzing shops here. The Nepalese dresses, Tibetan carpets, alpine cheese, hand-woven jackets, electronics and bamboo and cane baskets are among the most famous picks. Return back to the hotel and enjoy spending the overnight in the comfort of the hotel room in Gangtok.
DAY 2 - Gangtok (Tsomgo Lake Excursion and Baba Mandir)
The second day of this tour commences with a nutritious breakfast at the hotel, followed by sightseeing in Gangtok. First, head to the Tsomgo Lake or what is also known as the Changu Lake. A 3-hour drive is what it will take to reach at the height of 12,400 feet. It is a glacial lake that is considered to be sacred by locals and the reflection of the neighbouring hills on the water is sure to leave you enthralled. There is a small temple built alongside the shore as well. Next, visit the Baba Harbhajan Mandir. The view from 13,200 feet above where this temple is situated is a sight for sore eyes. It is a shrine that is dedicated to an Indian soldier who passed away by drowning in a nearby stream. His clothes, shoes and badges are preserved here along with his photographs. It is mandatory for army officials to pay their respects here for it is believed that his soul still protects the fellow military mates. Many people also bottle the water in the name of the ailing people and the water seems to heal them. If you wish, an optional tour to Nathula Pass can also be arranged for at an extra cost. You can soak in the serene beauty and can also take a ride on colourfully ornamented yaks and ponies here. Return back to the hotel in Gangtok for a comfortable overnight stay.
DAY 3 - Gangtok – Lachen (125 Km / 6 Hours Drive Approximately)
Have a stomach-filling breakfast and start your day early by checking out from the hotel in Gangtok. Proceeding towards Lachung, which will require you to drive through the apple orchards and reach a mesmerizing altitude of 8,800 feet. It is close to the Tibetan border and is also home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery. En-route, visit the Singhik View Point and Seven Sisters Waterfalls. The viewpoint is a paradisiacal retreat from the noisy atmosphere of the crowded cities. It offers its visitors’ a stunning view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt Siniolchu. The Seven Sisters Waterfall is one of the most pristine waterfalls in the region. It derives its name from the fact that it cascades in seven stages in a perfect harmony and is extremely hypnotizing. Also, visit the Naga Water Falls are also similarly a huge broad stream of water that flows at a very high speed. It gives an absorbing and a thrilling experience to the spectators. The falls are so ferocious; they may almost instantly drench you. Post that; proceed on your journey to Lachung. On arrival in Lachung, check in at the hotel. DAY 4 - Lachen – Gurudongmar Lake – Chopta Valley Excursion – Lachung
After relishing an early morning breakfast, check out from the hotel in Lachen and head out for sightseeing. Gurudongmar Lake A 3 hours drive will take you to a valley that is perched at an altitude of 11, 800 feet. The lake set here is considered to be holy by Sikhs, Buddhists and Hindus and is one of the highest lakes in the world. It is very close to the Tibet border and is encircled all around the year by snow-covered peaks. Cold desert This is where the Himalayan rain-shadow zone merges with Tibetan plateau. The mountains reach the altitude of about 20,000 to 25,000 feet and are painted with the beautiful tones of colours. After sightseeing in Lachen, continue your journey towards Lachung. It is a region that is fully covered with Rhododendron forest. Visit the Chopta Valley and Thangu Valley on your way. Chopta valley Known for its varying hues, it is a very picturesque destination that is s positioned at an altitude of 13200 feet. Several water sports are also enjoyed by the river every year by adventurous tourists. Thangu Valley Thangu is a small and cosy village that is decorated with vibrant alpine flowers. A lot of travellers flock every year for the spectacular hiking trails in the valley. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and photo enthusiasts. Proceed with the drive and reach Lachung. On arrival, check in at the hotel and visit the Lachung Monastery. The Lachung Monastery It is an ancient Nyingma Buddhist gompa which is set at an astonishing height of 9,600 feet. DAY 5 - Lachung – Yumthang Excursion – Gangtok
Yumthang Valley that stands for ‘The Valley of Flowers’ is your destination for today. After head-starting your day with a toothsome breakfast meal, check out from the hotel and drive to reach 11,800 feet above sea level to this valley. You may visit the famous hot spring that is popular owing to its curative properties for skin diseases. Having basked in the valley’s beauty, leave for Gangtok. On your way, cover a few sightseeing spots. Singhik and Mangan These are two scenic towns you will cross on your way to Gangtok. If the weather is suitable and the sky is clear, you can enjoy the stunning views of Himalayan ranges. You may catch glimpses of the peaks of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Simvo, Kabru, Jopuno and Mt. Siniolchu. Optional Tour to Zero Point / Additional Charges / Special Permit An optional tour to the Zero Point can be arranged for on request. Set at an altitude of 15,300 feet, it is the last outpost of civilization. The international border of China lies a few meters ahead and hence civilians are restricted to go any further. After sightseeing, continue your journey to Gangtok. On arrival, check in at the hotel and spend the overnight in the comfort of the cosy room.
DAY 6 - Gangtok – Darjeeling (4 Hour Drive/110 KM)
After breakfast, start your journey to Darjeeling, the Queen of Hills. Once you reach Darjeeling, our representative will assist you to check in at the hotel at Darjeeling. Overnight stay at the hotel. Note: Toy Train can be done on the same day at an additional cost.
DAY 7 - Full day Local Sightseeing in Darjeeling
Tiger Hill Start your day early as today you will drive to the Tiger Hill at 4 a.m. After reaching at a height of 2590 meters, you will witness the most spectacular sunrise and the sun’s rays will fill the dark sky and levitate over the third highest peak in the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga. Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop As you make your way back down, make a quick visit to the Ghoom Monastery and enjoy the scenic views of the Batasia Loop. The unparalleled natural beauty amidst which the monastery is nestled is a wonderful sight to behold. The Batasia Loop is unarguably one of the most picturesque train routes in all of Darjeeling. On arriving at the hotel, gulp a healthy breakfast and head out for some more sightseeing. Himalayan Mountaineering Institute Visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Its aim is to promote and encourage mountaineering amongst the youth of the country. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park Also, visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursday). It is home to an array of species and Himalayan animals. Tenzing Rock Then, head to the Tenzing Rock, which is a very famous rock-climbing site among people who love to, seek adventure. Japanese Temple and the Peace Pagoda On your way to the Japanese Temple and the Peace Pagoda, enjoy an outer view of the Chitrey Tea Garden, which is the home ground for Darjeeling’s aromatic tea. Feel the divine peace at the temple and pagoda and catch the panoramic views of the landscape and Kanchenjunga range from the top of the pagoda. Chowrasta and Mall Road Then, go to Chowrasta and Mall Road for an evening stroll. DAY 8 - Darjeeling – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station(NJP)/Bagdogra Airport(IXB) (88 km/3 hour drive)
